Pacific Islands event: "Karera i Palabran Måmi" ("The Journey of Our Words")

A Poetry Reading event hosted and performed by 2 Chamorritas from Guåhan: Angela Cruz and Kisha Borja-Quichocho

This event is inspired by our participation in a blog created by Tafea Polamalu (another CPIS student) for Vilsoni Hereniko's PACS 603 class, Researching Oceania. The blog, entitled "Voyaging to the Liminal Space," has allowed us and our fellow peers to discuss issues relevant to aspiring scholars of Oceania, MA candidates, etc. The issues addressed and discussed include colonization, identity, gender, and representation/re-presentation. Representation/Re-presentation are key themes for this event. We have decided to host this event to share our creative scholarship.

Date: Friday, May 1, 2009
Time: 4pm to 6pm
Place: Hale Halawai on East-West Road (alternate location: Moore 111)

*Please try to bring a canned good (we'll be donating them) and a poem that you would like to share (either one you have written or one of your favorites by someone else).
